Termite Management

Termite damage isn't insurable. Inspections pay for themselves.

About this service

Termite Management

Termite damage costs Australian homeowners more than fire, flood and storms combined every year, and most insurance policies won't touch it. The Hunter Region has high termite activity. Whether you need a pre-purchase inspection, an active termite treatment, in-ground baiting or a pre-construction barrier on a new build, we cover the full termite lifecycle.

  • Pre-purchase termite inspections
  • Active termite treatment
  • In-home treatments & chemical barriers
  • Baiting & monitoring systems
  • Existing-system maintenance

Termite Management FAQs

Common questions from Newcastle and Hunter customers about termite management.

How often should I have a termite inspection?
Annual at minimum for any Hunter Region property. Every 6 months for high-risk properties (heavy garden mulch around the foundation, sub-floor moisture, history of termite activity nearby). If you're buying, always commission a pre-purchase inspection before settlement.
What's the difference between baiting and chemical barriers?
A chemical barrier (e.g. Termidor HE) is a treated soil zone around the perimeter that termites can't cross - they die on contact and carry the chemistry back to the nest. Baiting (e.g. Sentricon) uses in-ground stations that termites find, feed on and take back, eliminating the colony. Different properties suit different systems, so we recommend based on the inspection.
Do you offer pre-construction termite barriers for new builds?
Yes. We install both physical (HomeGuard PB membrane) and chemical pre-construction barriers compliant with AS 3660. Talk to us before the slab is poured. Once it's down, retrofit options are more limited.
Are termites covered by home and contents insurance?
Almost never. Standard home and contents policies in Australia explicitly exclude termite damage because it's considered preventable through inspection. That's why annual inspections are a fraction of the cost of repair.
