Termites
Termite damage isn't insurable. Prevention pays for itself.
Termites quietly cause more damage to Australian homes every year than fire, flood and storms combined. Most insurance policies won't touch it. The Hunter Region has high termite activity, and the only reliable defence is regular inspection plus an active management plan if your property is at risk.

Signs of infestation
- Mud tubes on brick or pier walls
- Hollow-sounding skirting boards, architraves or door frames
- Sagging or bubbling paint that wasn't there last year
- Discarded wings near windows and doors after a warm humid day
- Soft or crumbly timber when you press a thumbnail into it
- Fine dirt or sawdust around skirting boards
How we treat termites
- Detailed inspection - internal, external, sub-floor, roof void
- Identification of the species and active areas
- In-home treatments to nest sites
- Chemical soil barriers around the perimeter
- Above-ground or in-ground baiting & monitoring stations
- Written report with photos and recommendations
Prevention
- Annual termite inspections (every 6 months for high-risk properties)
- Keep sub-floor areas dry and well ventilated
- Don't stack timber, mulch or firewood against the house
- Direct downpipes and AC condensate away from the foundation
- Repair leaks promptly, as termites are drawn to moisture
