Flies
More than a nuisance - flies spread disease.
House flies, blow flies, fruit flies and drain flies all need different treatments. Beyond the nuisance, flies move freely between rubbish, food and prep surfaces, making them a serious vector for foodborne illness. Commercial kitchens and food handlers need this under control year-round.

Signs of infestation
- Adult flies visible during the day, particularly near food and rubbish
- Maggots in bins, drains or under leaking pipework
- Fly spots on walls and ceilings (small dark dots)
- Repeated infestations from the same breeding source
- Drain flies near sinks, floor wastes and grease traps
How we treat flies
- Identify the species and locate the breeding source
- Targeted treatment to breeding areas (the only way to break the cycle)
- Residual spray to resting surfaces
- Drain bio-treatment for drain flies
- Fly traps and electric fly killer (EFK) recommendations for commercial sites
- Routine maintenance schedule for hospitality and food businesses
Prevention
- Empty kitchen bins daily and clean them weekly
- Cover food and clean up spills promptly
- Fly-screen all doors and windows
- Treat compost bins as breeding sites - keep them turned and lidded
- Clear drain wastes of organic build-up regularly
